Applications are invited for the position of Coroner’s Officer within the jurisdiction of Teesside & Hartlepool, based at the Coroner’s Office, Middlesbrough Town Hall, Corporation Road, Middlesbrough.
This is a rewarding yet demanding role that requires the successful candidate to support and uphold the work of the Coroner’s Service in line with all relevant legislation. The post-holder will undertake duties relating to the investigation of deaths reported to HM Coroner for Teesside & Hartlepool.
Applicants must have experience working in highly pressurised and emotionally challenging environments. The role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, whilst effectively prioritising tasks, managing competing demands, and making sound decisions. Exceptional communication skills and strong emotional resilience are essential, as the work involves dealing with traumatic circumstances and supporting bereaved families.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong keyboard skills are required to produce timely and accurate reports and documentation.
A full current UK/European driving licence is essential, along with access to a vehicle for business use.

This role is a working day of 8am - 4pm and includes an on-call rota (including some weekend working) covering from 4pm to 8am. On call working is related to demands of the team and will commence after initial training is complete. The successful applicant will be required to be flexible with their working hours to meet the demands of the busy environment. This role will attract weekend working allowance and standby.
