Job Description

Bridget Phillipson MP is looking for a hardworking anddedicatedCaseworker to work in her constituency office. Full-time, although part-time hours will be considered in line withofficeneeds.

Excellent organisation skills, empathy, a commitment to providing anoutstanding service to constituents, good written English, and a professional telephone manner are essential. A driving licence is desirable, and this position may involve some evening and weekend work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing own caseload and progress of casework, ensuring all cases are logged on relevant casework software and updated with actions taken
  • Providing advice and support to constituents on a variety of issues through liaison with Government agencies, the voluntary sector, and others to resolve matters
  • Dealing with daily queries from members of the public by phone, email or in person, taking the appropriate initial action to resolve, document, or escalate their concerns or enquiries, as appropriate
  • Analyse, evaluate, and interpret data (including patterns of enquiries) to ensure Member is accurately informed on key issues and is aware of trends
  • Manage projects under the direction of the Member/Office Manager
  • Develop knowledge in specialist areas
  • Attend meetings as appropriate
  • Ensuring records of contact with constituents are kept, with details of each case whilst adhering to the Data Protection Act principles, always respecting the confidentiality of data

 The successful applicant will have:

·        Excellent organisational skills.

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft emails and letters to a high professional standard with attention to detail.

·        Ability to work with sensitivity, kindness, and compassion.

·        Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied caseload and to work well under pressure.

·        Ability tosupport andmanage expectations of constituents in often challenging circumstances.

·        Good IT skills

·        Motivated to work independently as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
