If you are, we have a rare opportunity to join the National Park Authority’s Ranger Service as an Access Ranger.

We’re looking for an Access Ranger to join us on a full time permanent basis, with the Northern Ranger team based at the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity, working primarily in Swaledale, focusing on the maintenance of the public rights of way network, other access routes, open access areas and estate management for the Authority.

You will liaise with landowners and farmers and carry out high quality practical work, enhancing public access, and engaging with users and communities.
As an integral part of the ranger service, you will be undertaking practical work alone or as part of a team, managing and supervising contractors and volunteers, and co-ordinating and delivering practical work, as required.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Weekend and bank holiday working will be required as part of your rota.

About You
As well as having practical experience in the planning and maintenance of projects, such as building stiles, path construction, fencing and walling, you will also need to have experience of health, safety, and welfare (including risk assessment) in relation to practical projects.

To help maintain our records and deal with email correspondence you will be proficient in the use of IT, including Microsoft software. Good communication and inter-personal skills are essential and experience of supervising volunteers would be an advantage.

A full driving licence is essential for this role due to the travel requirements and experience of driving small plant would be desirable.
