Cleveland Police are embarking on a process to select officers to join our ranks and opportunities are now open for transferees seeking to join Cleveland Police on promotion from suitably qualified substantive Sergeants seeking promotion to the next rank and from substantive Inspectors seeking lateral transfer at rank.

Familiarisation Event: 3rd February 2026, 13:30 at CPHQ, Hemlington. T/Superintendent Stuart Hodgson and Assistant Chief Officer Ian Wright will offer insight into what it means to be an Inspector, what to expect from the process and what Cleveland Police expects from applicants.
Closing Date: 15th February 2026
Interviews: weeks commencing 16th, 23rd and 30th March 2026 (dates subject to change)

To be eligible to transfer to Cleveland Police for this opportunity, you must either be a substantive Sergeant, having passed NPPF 4/OSPRE, wishing to progress to Inspector or be a current substantive Inspector wishing to transfer at rank from a Home Office Force.
You will retain your:
Substantive Inspectors wishing to transfer at rank will follow the same process as those applying on promotion.
