Yes Age Requirements: From 18 years old plus Role Summary: To volunteer as part of our multidisciplinary team to support effective clinical care by providing efficient clerical, administrative and receptionist services on the In-Patient Unit. Key Responsibilities Welcomes patients, relatives and visitors into the hospice directing them to unit bedrooms ensuring that security, health and safety and infection control measures are understood and adhered to as applicable Answer telephone calls taking/relaying messages for the nursing team and patients. Provide information concerning the condition of patients to relatives as directed by nursing staff Ensure reception areas are maintained in a presentable manner (cleaning of PC’s and telephones) Liaising with admin team regarding any other duties Support the Clinical Admin team as needed Photocopying of documents / leaflets Filing of patient documents Distributing staff and patient mail Monitors stationery levels and top up as needed Reports faults to maintenance team To have a working knowledge of all the equipment used in the area. e.g. Photocopier, IT equipment, Laminator and Telephone system or be willing to learn Personal qualities Able to always maintain confidentiality Compassion and empathy Tact and sensitivity Excellent communication skills Ability to work alone and as part of team Good attention to detail Polite and approachable Professional approach Training requirements: As a Reception / Admin Volunteer you will complete the following training: Teesside Hospice mandatory training Volunteer induction training Any other training identified as appropriate to the role Support and Supervision: Your first line of support and for any enquiries will be Clinical Administrator to support you in your role. Communications: The Clinical Administrator nurses will regularly provide you with any information updates, training opportunities and upcoming events appropriate to your role.
