We are seeking a suitably experienced individual for the role of Senior Business Partner (Governance, Risk and Assurance) in the Governance and Integration Directorate. Working within the Governance, Risk and Assurance Team you will help to lead the delivery of governance, risk, assurance and company secretarial services, promoting strong working relationships and a collaborative culture of working in partnership with other areas of the business.

This role will focus predominantly on the delivery of governance, risk, assurance and company secretarial services to Karbon’s subsidiaries.

About the role

The Senior Business Partner (Governance, Risk and Assurance) will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Board support. This will include providing support, advice and guidance to board members in carrying out their duties. This role will be key in ensuring effective governance arrangements are in place to plan and support the work of board members, including through coordination and forward planning of board and committee business and by ensuring an effective and diverse board membership.

The role will manage a system of corporate assurance and reporting to senior management and board level, in respect of good governance, best practice and regulatory standards.

The role will also support the maintenance of an effective framework for risk management and assurance, including through a strategic approach to corporate risk management, assurance from internal audits, and maintenance of practical business continuity arrangements.

About you

We are looking to appoint a someone with a strong record of demonstrable experience in the delivery of governance services to a social housing provider. Ideally you will also have experience of providing risk management and assurance services.

As a pro-active and enthusiastic individual, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others, you will be comfortable working with senior stakeholders with the ability to coach, motivate and engage others.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent work experience, you will have a record of continuing professional development. Either holding, or working towards, Chartered Governance Professional / Chartered Company Secretary status would be beneficial.

You will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of governance and ideally risk and assurance services, and an understanding of the Regulatory environment and the current and future challenges facing social housing providers.

  • Salary is £51,348 per annum
  • Location: Gosforth, Newcastle, with some homeworking / flexible working available. Occasional travel to Leeds / York.
  • 37 hours per week.
