Job Description

Job purpose

  • To support and manage the payroll team by –
    • overseeing the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees of MHC and Young Foundations, ensuring all data is correctly inputted into the payroll system.
    • ensuring the upload of BACS files to PTX in a timely manner and update PAYE coding change notices.
    • Reviewing the posting of monthly payroll journals and control account reconciliations and Payment of PAYE and AOE.
    • Supporting with and reporting on the administration of pension contributions, auto-enrolment and communications.
    • Overseeing holiday, absence and sick pay and statutory sick pay calculations and deductions.
    • Ensure the team are supported with all Tax Year-End procedures are run including P60’s.

Key Responsibilities 

  • To support the payroll team to monitor and maintain compliance of internal controls and to liaise with external auditors
  • Lead and manage the payroll department staff, providing training, guidance, and support.
  • To encourage collaborative working with the HR/Workforce and Finance Teams.
  • Prepare and generate payroll reports for management, finance, and accounting departments.
  • To Input into Payroll budgeting and forecasting process. 
  • To contribute towards the strategic direction of the organisation through regular engagement with the senior management team and board of directors
  • Prepare and file tax reports, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Support the team to respond to employee payroll inquiries, including questions about pay discrepancies, deductions, and tax issues.
  • Continuously assess payroll processes and recommend improvements for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
  • To review & amend associated payroll policies and procedures. Where necessary, develop policies to support the functions of the team.
  • Maintain and upgrade payroll systems and software to ensure they are functioning optimally. To Maintain Cascade HR/Payroll system including ongoing development of system to meet company requirements.
