Job Description

Responsible for:

Undertaking lift service and repairs across the given route including out of hours responsibilities. Engineer will cover Scotland.

Main duties:

  • To carry out service and repairs of all types of goods, passenger and service lifts
  • Respond proactively and timely to lift breakdowns aiming to always achieve first time fix
  • Resolve any long standing lift faults, achieve zero defect insurance items and maintain contractual KPI’s through the reduction of lift breakdowns
  • To report service / repair requirements / defects to encourage improvements in lift equipment and safety
  • To actively participate in an on-call rota within the whole Scotland
  • Conform to and utilise best practice within Health and Safety at all times
  • To work with various Engineers and Trainee Engineers as and when directed
  • Liaise directly with the customer whilst on site and build a good working relationship

Person specification:

  • Be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3, J-Module or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of working on a variety of different lift manufacturer’s equipment
  • Possess practical skills from a lift engineering background
  • Have in-depth knowledge of a variety of different lift manufacturer’s equipment, such as passenger, goods, scissor, high and low level access lifts both electric traction and hydraulic as well as through floor and chair lifts
  • Demonstrate that you can apply lift engineering principles to maintenance and fault diagnosis
  • Experience of working within a team, and following instructions
  • To have a good geographical knowledge of Scotland
  • Ability to follow lift manuals and diagrams
  • Basic understanding of IT systems
  • Be self-motivated and be able to work without supervision
  • To participate in an out of hours call out rota
  • Full driving licence

In addition to the above, the post-holder will also be required to undertake additional duties as appropriate to the nature and level of the role.
