Job Introduction

Do you have a passion for land-based industries and a commitment to maintaining high standards in workshop environments? East Durham College is looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to oversee the daily operation of our Arboriculture and Land-Based Engineering workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain practical workshop areas, tools, and machinery

  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation

  • Support curriculum delivery through technical assistance and resource preparation

  • Supervise and support students and staff in workshop practices

  • Monitor inventories and manage procurement within budget

What We’re Looking For:

  • Level 3 qualification (or higher) in a relevant subject area (e.g., Arboriculture, Land-Based Engineering)

  • Strong practical knowledge of Health & Safety standards (PUWER, COSHH, LOLER)

  • Experience maintaining machinery and tools

  • Effective communication and organisational skills

  • A proactive, team-oriented individual with a hands-on approach
