Foster Carer

THE ROLE: Changing Futures Fostering is a new, not for profit North East independent fostering agency. The agency is looking for potential foster parents across the North East area. This is a fantastic opportunity to become a therapeutic foster parent and transform a child’s life; it could also change your life too!

A therapeutic foster parent is someone who provides a safe, secure, and nurturing home to children who through no fault of their own have often had a difficult start in life. Foster parents can look after, babies, toddlers, children and teenagers but with our agency it will most likely be with a child or a teenager.

Foster parents come from different cultural and social backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, and are of various sexual orientations, physical abilities, ages and genders. This opportunity would be idea for someone who has experience working with children/young people or who are parents.

Fostering is a role that requires a lot of skills but many of these skills are ones lots of people have already such as being caring, flexible and most importantly committed. Teaming your skills with the agencies therapeutic parenting approach, quality training, ongoing support and fees package will give you all the tools needed to help change a child’s future.

THE CANDIDATE: To become a therapeutic foster parent at Changing Futures Fostering you need to,

• Care about children and young people
• Be committed to helping children and young people
• Be over 21 years of age
• Have a spare bedroom in your home
• Previous experience working with children/vulnerable adults or parenting experience, however this is not essential
