Middlesbrough Football Club are seeking to recruit a First Team Set Piece and Training analyst to be based at the Rockcliffe Park Training Ground, Hurworth, near Darlington. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the set-piece coaches with all aspects of set play analysis and execution leading up to and including match day. In addition to this, facilitate the filming and collection of all 1st Team training sessions. This position is ideally suited to a highly motivated and positive character, with previous First Team analysis experience wanting to join a progressive department.
THE ROLE:
• To support and assist the set-piece coaching staff with all aspects of set play analysis and delivery, both at the training ground and on match days.
• Provide detailed pre-match set-piece analysis to the coaching staff on upcoming opponents, identifying their collective and individual strengths/weaknesses, all in alignment with our principles.
• Ability to clearly present and communicate ideas and solutions to the coaching staff/players.
• Provide post-match analysis reviews for the team/individuals alongside the set pieces coaches.
• Proactively provide insights on player and team development throughout the season, by providing performance based feedback through video and data.
• Assist the set-piece coaches on the training field when required.
• Proactively study and apply (where possible) set-piece trends within football.
• Lead in the collection and collation of all statistical set-piece content and maintain best practice databases aligned with our principles.
• To film all First Team training sessions
• Accurate and efficient management of training session video footage, enabling availability to relevant personnel in a timely manner.
CANDIDATES SHOULD:
• Possess an Undergraduate degree in Performance Analysis or a related field.
• Be able to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of football, with a specific understanding of all aspects of Set Pieces.
• Have a solid understanding of The EFL Championship, its teams and players.
• Be able to build and maintain key relationships with key footballing staff.
• Demonstrate the ability to present key findings in an engaging way, in both report and video format.
• Be comfortable in presenting to coaching staff and players.
• Be proficient using video analysis and video telestration software.
• Be proficient using a host of data sources - Wyscout / Impect / Statsbomb / Numbers etc.
• Be honest, with the ability to uphold a high level of confidentiality at all time.
• Show a willingness to work weekends and unsociable hours as the job demands.
• Be able to work to a high standard with good attention to detail and able to prioritise workloads.
• Be eligible to work in the UK.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
• Be proficient with video recording equipment, handheld camcorder and drone flying.
• Have experience of independently delivering performance analysis projects.
• Have experience of using data and video to highlight areas of strength/weaknesses within set piece set ups.
