Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for you to train as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner to work with children and young people. You will embark on a fully funded Post Graduate Certificate that will help you build your skills and. You will work for a small charity where you can make a big difference. You will learn from, and work collaboratively with, colleagues involved in other disciplines supporting more systemic issues.

Fixed term contract for 12 months. Continuation of the post is subject to funding and successful passing of the course.

Main duties of the job

To work to provide community based and school based one to to one and group support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people aged 5-18 and their parents who have emotional wellbeing difficulties and mental health.

Working in partnership, support children, young people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families in the self management of presenting difficulties.

Assess and deliver, under supervision, brief, outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Select a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions for children, young people and families experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and delivered in collaboration with the child young person and family.

Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices.

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic and practice based assessments.

Starting life as an estate-based youth club, Changing Futures now supports families, children and young people across Teesside through a range of projects including childrens' therapy, couples therapy, mediation, parental group work, mentoring (for adults and children, focusing on understanding and alleviating the impact of trauma), befriending and fostering across Tees Valley. Because healthy organisational systems enable better help for families, we've also helped support practice and organisational development in childrens' workforce agencies across Hartlepool.
