Job Description

We are seeking an experienced governance clerk to join our team, to provide support to our academy councils.  You will be flexible; have a keen interest in education; fantastic minuting skills; an excellent command of English and grammar; be self-motivated, well organised and a great listener; and did we mention flexible.  We are happy to welcome new entrants to the governance clerking profession, but previous minute taking experience is a necessity, along with the desire to support governors to improve the life chances of our amazing students.  Due to the nature of the work and the information you will be exposed to, discretion and confidentiality are an absolute must.

Although many meetings can be attended virtually, there will be a requirement to travel to NET academies to attend meetings in person from time to time.  Travel expenses are provided.  As the majority of your work will be done from home, you will need a strong enough internet connection to ensure you can connect to virtual meetings without difficulty (cameras have to be on!)

You will be assigned to up to five academy councils.  Each academy council meets six times per year, with meetings taking place after school hours (late afternoons/early evenings), and usually lasting around two hours.  Whilst these are planned a year in advance, student behaviour committees are held as the need arises, and are normally held within school hours on any weekday – hence the need for flexibility.

If this sounds like your dream job, please do get in touch.  In return you’ll be a highly valued member of staff, meet some of the most interesting people from all walks of life, gain a deep understanding of the education system, and know you play an important part in improving the life chances of our students.
