So who is Home Group?

We are the UK's largest provider of care and support services and also one of the UK's top housing providers. Many of our clients need more than a home and through our Stonham brand we work with almost 30,000 vulnerable people in over 500 supported housing, justice and health services each year.

One size doesn't fit all, so our clients lead their support every step of the way and this is reflected in our client satisfaction rating of 95%, with 78% experiencing a positive move-on and tenancy sustainment of 75%.

The Bail Accommodation Support Service (BASS) is a national contract which provides, primarily, accommodation and support for either offenders released from prison subject to home detention curfew, or defendants remanded on bail.

About the service

Bail Accommodation and Support Service provides accommodation and support for service users released early from prison on Home Detention Curfew (tag) or via bail from the courts. It is a national service managed by Stonham and funded by the Ministry of Justice.

About the role

Support officers play a key role in delivering the service, having regular contact with service users, undertaking risk assessments, assisting them to access services in the community and ensuring that they comply with house rules and the terms of their release. Each support officer has a caseload in the region of fifteen service users, spread across five or six properties, and works with assistant support officers to ensure that our properties are maintained to a high standard.

The Peripatetic Post is a Support Officer who is not allocated any properties, but provides cover for Support Officers and Assistant Support Officers on leave. You will have an overall view of London and prepared to travel across London and carry out Support Sessions and the full role of a Support Officer and ASOP.

We are looking for a new colleague who has strong people skills, who is able to assess and manage risk and who is committed to assisting service users in their rehabilitation. An understanding of criminal justice and/or supported housing would be an advantage, as would be evidence of strong team working skills, good communication and the ability to work flexibly.

Support staff are required to travel for business purposes, using their own vehicles (for which an allowance in excess of £220 per calendar month may be payable), and work from a nominated office base or property within your allocated allotted "patch".

You will be required to travel for business purposes throughout the greater London area. You may however, be asked to travel a wider area if called upon to support the business. All new entrants will receive a thorough induction and ongoing support and training, and there is generally opportunity for staff to work from home on occasion.

In this role you will be required to work flexibly within the operational BASS hours which fall between 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and includes regular Saturday working. All applicants must go through an enhanced DBS check. The successful applicant will hold a full UK driver's license and will have access to a vehicle for business purposes.

Please note that any offer of employment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance, the costs of which will be met by the employer.

Our values

At Home Group, we live by our values every day through our colleagues to provide a great service to our clients and customers. To be a success with us you'll need to be

Accountable (Don't pass the buck - own it!), Commercial (Spending wisely and working creatively), Caring (Looking after one another) and Energised (Having a positive, can-do approach)

What we'll give you

All new entrants will receive a thorough induction and ongoing support and training, and the post offers an excellent opportunity to develop experience and skills in working within the field of criminal justice, and all the prospects which derive from joining a large and successful national organisation

Our ‘My home package' includes competitive salaries, performance related pay, a contributory occupational money-purchase pension scheme with life assurance and long terms disability insurance, 25 days paid holiday a year - rising by 1 day per year up to 30 days, with the ability to purchase an extra 5 days, salary sacrifice schemes including cycle and car.
