There is no obligation to pay full pay when staff are absent due to sickness
Statutory sick pay (SSP) is paid at a rate set by the government and is reviewed annually. It is paid for a period of 28 weeks in one period of incapacity for work
There is no payment for the first three days and SSP is paid from the fourth day onwards providing its conditions are met.
SSP is earnings related
