Job Description

There’s around 20 young people in care in Hartlepool who need someone who will guide them, have fun with them, and help them achieve their dreams. Some young people are leaving care soon and need some help getting ready to, others just want a mate and someone who’ll have fun with them or act as a sounding board.

We have a brilliant group of volunteer mentors who support most young people.

Some of the volunteers and young people need some extra support, particularly around rebuilding family relationships and intensive help to prepare to leave care. We have some sessional posts available to support some of these specific people.

Consequently, people applying for these sessional roles will be experienced in working with and supporting young people with more complex needs.

We would expect each young person you support would take around 3 hours of time a week or fortnight, with some extra time if there’s work with other family members. This will usually be evenings or weekends.

If you are interested please complete our stage 1 application form. Please tell us on this how many young people you would like to support. Please also outline your specific experience working with children and young people with more complex needs.

Applications will be reviewed on a first come first served basis twice a week on Mondays at 9am and Thursday at 9am, and we will stop recruiting when we have enough sessional workers to meet the needs of this specific group of young people.

Changing Futures North East is a local Charity that works tirelessly to help improve the lives of children, young people, and families. We’ve 24yrs track record serving the local community an offer a broad range of projects, from mentoring and independent visitors, through emotional wellbeing, parental relationship support and through our sister company, fostering. We are a small agency with a big impact. If you’d like to help us change lives for the better, we’d love to hear from you.
