Job Description

Team Fostering is an ethical not-for-profit fostering agency with a strong reputation and track record for providing high-quality fostering placements for looked after children. We are looking to recruit an Education and Support Service Worker to provide specialist educational input and support to children and their foster carers. 

The successful candidate will become part of a committed and dynamic education and support service working creatively and professionally with staff and foster carers to provide the best possible outcomes for looked after children. 

The support offered by the team includes: 

  • Helping carers navigate the education system
  • Help with schoolwork, supporting young people to prepare for independence
  • Giving children and young people the opportunity to contribute towards how our services are run
  • Organising a full range of activities for our young people and foster families
  • Providing support directly to young people

This support is not purely academic; we also support with emotional regulation and sessions around personal development e.g. bullying and friendship. This really is an interested, varied role for the right person. We are genuinely interested in developing the existed excellent service we provide so are always willing to take on new ideas. 

Candidates with skills and experience in teaching, classroom experience, education provided outside school and experience of supporting looked after children are encouraged to apply. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with demonstrable experience working at primary school level or supporting children or young people with SEND. 

The post will require a mixture of direct work with children and young people, advocating for children and foster carers, liaising with virtual schools, social workers and other professionals, and attending meetings where education is the focus. 

The post can be based at either our North Shields or Middlesbrough offices. You will be required to work flexibly across the whole of the North East region. It is essential that you have a driving licence and your own car for work. It will also be necessary to work outside of normal office hours including some evening and weekend work.
