Role Overview:
At Harbour we believe young people have the right to live without the impacts of domestic abuse and we are looking for a Young Person’s IDVAwho will work with young people (aged 12-18) affected by domestic abuse. They will provide trauma-informed, client-led support to empower young people to:
• Address issues resulting from experiences of domestic abuse
• Aspire to a positive future
• Avoid future abuse by developing healthy attitudes to relationships

Key Responsibilities:
• To provide a trauma-informed, client-led support service to Young People experiencing harm from domestic abuse (interpersonal abuse).
• Identify and assess the risks faced by young people affected by domestic abuse using the DASH risk assessment tool.
• Assess the needs of young people and develop outcome focussed support plans using a strength-based approach, in partnership with the young person, empowering them to make long term sustained change.
• Implement and review support and risk management plans to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
• Develop and deliver planned interventions to meet needs and improve outcomes for young people including crisis interventions, advocacy, and support in relation to safeguarding, wellbeing/confidence, criminal/civil remedies, housing, health, welfare rights, etc
• Support the empowerment of young people and assist them in recognising the features, dynamics and impacts of domestic abuse present in their situation.
• Plan and implement activities to promote self-awareness, confidence, and participation for young people.
• Advocate for young people affected by domestic abuse, co-ordinating the provision of multiagency support as required.
• Understand multi-agency partnership structures and work within a multi-agency setting, including the MARAC.
• Where a young person’s case is involved with the criminal justice system, provide information, advocacy and support through the process whilst maximising their safety.
• Through casework, be alert to links between domestic abuse and sexual exploitation, gang involvement, cyber stalking/abuse and HBV/forced marriage and respond accordingly.
• Manage a caseload, ensuring each young person receives support appropriate to their needs.
About You:
• You will be enthusiastic with the ability to engage effectively with Young People.
• Have a creative approach to problem solving and the ability to work with initiative.
• Hold a relevant qualification in early years/youth work at Level 3 or above
• Have a minimum of 2 years practical experience working with vulnerable children/young people
• You will need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – mileage for business travel will be paid.
