Bishop Auckland College has an exciting opportunity to join our construction department as a Skills Coach / Technician, who will be responsible for supporting a range of college courses and programmes within the curriculum area.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Skills Coach / Technician to support teaching and learning within our Carpentry and Joinery workshop. The role involves coaching and developing students’ practical joinery skills, reinforcing high standards of craftsmanship, and promoting safe working practices in line with current health and safety regulations.
You will assist in delivering hands-on training, support learners of varying abilities, and contribute to meaningful community-based projects that enhance both student experience and local engagement.
Key responsibilities include maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment, managing tools and equipment, preparing materials for practical sessions, and overseeing stock control and inventory.
You will also support staff and students in ensuring resources are used efficiently and workshops run smoothly.
This role is ideal for someone with strong industry experience in carpentry and joinery, a passion for developing others, and excellent organisational skills.
The successful candidate will be required to possess a level 3 qualification in a relevant subject. Applicants will also have knowledge and experience relating to working within the specialist area.
