HGV Class 1 Driver – Preston

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Preston. This is an excellent ongoing opportunity for an HGV Class 1 Driver, offering great rates of pay, consistent work, and a professional working environment.

Shifts

  •  Day and night work
  •  Day starts between 03:00 – 10:00
  •  Night starts between 15:00 – 22:00
  •  7-day operation
  •  2–3 drops per shift

Rates of Pay

  •  Days: £17.00 per hour
  •  Nights: £17.50 per hour
  •  Saturday days: £19.00 per hour
  •  Saturday nights: £19.50 per hour
  •  Sunday days: £20.50 per hour
  •  Sunday nights: £21.00 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  •  Safely and efficiently operating Category C+E vehicles
  •  Ensuring all loads are correctly loaded and secured
  •  Carrying out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  •  Reporting any vehicle defects or issues promptly
  •  Completing deliveries in a timely and professional manner
  •  Communicating effectively with the transport office regarding delays or issues
  •  Complying with all driving regulations and Working Time Directive rules
  •  Completing all required paperwork accurately

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

  •  Valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence
  •  Minimum of 2 years' experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver
  •  Valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
  •  No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no IN10, DR10 or DD10 codes)
  •  Strong communication and customer service skills

Desirable Experience

  •  More than 2 years' Class 1 driving experience

Training Provided

  •  Paid site induction
  •  Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
