Why we need people like you
We all want to work for a successful company or organisation that has sound business goals and values, one that recognises the importance that people play in its overall success. The employers on this site will display a range of logos or symbols on their vacancies indicating their commitment to aspects of employment law and/or any awards or policies they strongly believe in and uphold as an organisation. As a job seeker you need to understand what these symbols mean and how they can help you in your search for employment.
Equality of employment is at the heart of everything good employers do.
Public Sector organisations such as Local Authorities and NHS Trusts are invariably major employers in their locality and are committed to and active in their pursuit of providing equality of opportunity.
This means that gender, race, sexual orientation, disability or religion will not have any bearing in the workplace. It means that they want to hear from people like you, they recognise that we are all different and that these differences are valued and not a bar to success or opportunity. Public Sector employers believe that their workforce should reflect the communities they serve and will welcome your application.
Positive about Disabled
You’ll find that Local government and other public sector organisations are committed to supporting people with disabilities in the workplace. They will support you with your application by providing any necessary arrangements or adjustments to assist you with your interview. They will often guarantee an interview providing your application meets with all the necessary job criteria.
They are willing to make adjustments in the workplace to aid your employment and work hard to ensure that your disability does not stand in your way of employment or opportunities within the organisation.
Investors in People
Investors in People is the national Standard, which sets a level of good practice for training and development of people to achieve business goals. The Standard was developed by the National Training Task Force in partnership with leading national business, personnel, professional and employee organisations such as the CBI, TUC and the Institute of Personnel and Development. The work was supported by the Employment Department.
The Standard provides a national framework for improving business performance and competitiveness through a planned approach to setting and communicating business objectives and developing people to meet these objectives. The result is that the skills and motivation of staff matches what the organisation needs them to do.
Working for a company that recognises the value of the Investors in People standard means that you can expect to be provided with the necessary training and development to carry out your role. You will understand the goals of the company you work for and know how you personally contribute to them. You’ll be part of the bigger picture.
Many local councils and public sector employers are working towards or have already achieved Investors in People status so you know they value training and development and that your career will be in safe hands.
