About you

Previous experience of volunteering and of the voluntary sector. Experience of delivering training. Experience of working in teams and skateholders. High level of personal and social skills. Co-ordinating several activities projects. Experience within the food industry and a full driving license would be an advantage.

We have been supporting people in the North East since 1970, with services across Accommodation, Addictions & Recovery, Employment, Criminal Justice, Women’s Services, and Children & Families amongst other key causes; whilst having other exciting developments on the horizon.

FareShare North East receives good quality, in-date surplus food from manufacturers, producers and retail suppliers and redistributes it to over 100 local charities and community groups, including homeless shelters, women’s refuges and breakfast clubs for disadvantaged children. About the job

To ensure that FareShare North East has the volunteer resource to deliver the overall business objective, and to lead on the recruitment, assessment, development and retention of volunteers. Able to lead on the design, trial and implementation of a volunteer training programme

Manage the volunteer rota and ensure all shifts are planned and filled to meet business needs. Create and maintain excellent partnerships with organisations who can direct potential volunteers towards volunteering opportunities. Promote volunteering within FareShare North East through publicity and attending profile raising events to attract new volunteers. Manage corporate volunteer activity and maximise the impact from corporate volunteer opportunities. Proactively generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and associated role descriptions based upon the needs of the business.
