Job Description

Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation (MFCF) is the club’s independent charity set up in 1996 by Chairman Steve Gibson. We use the power of the MFC brand to engage with the community to provide opportunities and raise aspirations of disadvantaged young people and adults, to maximise their potential to achieve.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to coordinate MFC Foundation’s employability programmes; MFC Foundation Traineeships and Building Better Opportunities.

We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about supporting and developing young people and adults who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) to support them in moving closer to the jobs market, or progress into further education, employment or training.

This exciting role, based at MFCF’s Herlingshaw Centre, South Bank, involves coordinating the delivery of a high-quality education programme aimed at developing participant’s functional skills in literacy, numeracy and employability.

A key part of the role will be networking with local employers and partners to recruit participants onto the programme along with identifying valuable work placement and progression opportunities. The successful candidate will manage a team of three staff and work with partner organisations including The English Football League Trust, Job Centre Plus and a range of training organisations to ensure programme targets are achieved and budgets are met.

Candidates should:

  • Have relevant experience in a similar role, with proven experience in project management, specifically working with and supporting young people and adults
  • Have knowledge of delivering accredited education programmes and quality assurance, together with a good level of understanding of social inclusion and the issues facing young people from disadvantaged communities.
  • Possess a dynamic personality, excellent organisation, IT and communication skills and with the ability to work with key stakeholders to achieve successful relationships.
  • Preferably have a background in teaching, sport and project management
  • Be flexible, since evening and weekend working will be required as part of the role. Travel to a variety of locations will also be necessary.
