Job Description

Who Are We?

The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. The Percy Hedley Foundation has three main sites providing specialist education, adult day services and residential care to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, and Jesmond.

We work towards excellence every day and our team members are committed to delivering the very best outcomes for the people we support. Our dynamic and flexible service is tailored to the specific needs of the individual, making it easier to live, learn and be part of a world adapting to change.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a bright and talented Finance Business Partner to join our busy finance team. Your main focus will be on providing in-depth financial planning and contract management support to our operational managers, as well as being able to get involved in project related work to support development in the services.  You will act as the main financial support for a part of our organisation and will therefore be required to understand the performance and delivery of our services in order to support decision-making and to offer advice for improvements considering the risks or constraints and how to overcome them. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the organisation by dynamically supporting the services in achieving their targets and objectives, to plan and forecast so we use resources as best we can, and to be value for money orientated to ensure our contracted services are fit for purpose and meet service user needs.

You will need excellent working knowledge of preparing monthly management accounts, regular forecasting and budgets, preferably be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent). You will also have advanced excel skills, experience of using standard finance systems and have an eye for detail.  Equally importantly, you will have strong communication and relationship-building skills and are able to cope with multiple priorities and a changing environment. You will not be bound by conventional thinking but be open to supporting the services in a more holistic way, contributing ideas to challenge assumptions and looking for continuous improvements.

You may already have experience of working in a charity finance team or equally you may well have developed experience in the commercial sector that you are now looking to use in a way that will, indirectly, make a difference.

We are a small team who work hard, have fun and most of all want to make a difference to the lives of the people we support at Percy Hedley.  If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!
