Customer Safety Officer – Permanent Role
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual to undertake the post of Customer Safety Officer within the Community Safety Team.

- Customer Safety Officer – permanent role
- Salary is £31,257.13 per annum plus a Karbon car payment of £2012.09 per annum
- Location: Stanley or Gosforth
- Regular travel will be required across all Karbon stock
- 37 Hours per week with some homeworking available/flexible working
- Generous benefits package including 26 days annual leave on commencement rising to 31 days after 3 years’ service, occupational pension, health cash plan, and birthday leave, with the option of a flexible pot towards enhanced benefits.
The Role of Customer Safety Officer
The right person will be delivering a high quality, cost effective, customer focused housing service across all Karbon Homes geography that keeps our customers safe in response to our fire safety management and in accordance with housing and other related legislation.
You will be responsible for managing any housing management related issues that arise within our communal buildings relating to access and fire safety with an emphasis on compliance. Working across the Karbon footprint you will work alongside and build a strong relationship with our property services compliance team and all our wider housing teams to deliver all aspects of estate and housing management services across multi-tenure types.
A Customer Safety Officer will provide support and relevant information to residents in relation to fire safety and keeping themselves safe within our communal environments. There will be a strong emphasis on compliance and working with tenants to achieve this or take enforcement action where necessary. You will need an understanding and knowledge of fire safety, estate management, tenancy enforcement and other compliance related matters.
You will be an excellent communicator with excellent administration skills. Experience of taking enforcement action, producing reports, statements and the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload is essential. The postholder will be often working to targets with high performance indicators and strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.
You will have previous experience of working and dealing with a variety of housing management and estate management issues in neighbourhoods and communities. Knowledge and experience of working in a housing environment and housing legislation is an essential requirement of the role.
You will be part of a dynamic team, but the role does require the ability to work on your own initiative and carry out lone working in the community and in tenants’ homes.
A flexible approach to work is key as the post holder will be required to work across all office locations and Karbon stock as necessary and occasionally work outside normal working hours.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.
