Job Description

Carers Trust Tyne and Wear is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers and their families. Since 1990, we've worked hard to improve support, services and recognition for Gateshead residents living with the challenge of caring, unpaid, for someone who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.

As a network partner of Carers Trust, we're part of the largest independent organisation supporting carers in the UK.

We currently have vacancies for Carer Support Workers to give people a break from their caring role by looking after their relative or cared for either in their own home or helping them to access the community.

Our service is provided 24/7, 365 days a year so we are looking for peoplewith availability to work flexibly for a minimum of 16 hours per week, including some early mornings, evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

Ideally, you should have some experience of a caring role, either paid or personal but it is not essential. Full training will be given, although having NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care would be an advantage.

We are looking for people with a genuine caring approach who can build connections with clients and their families, as well as the skills to deliver person centred care.

You’ll show resilience under pressure and won’t shy away from difficult situations.

We’d love you to be a car driver, but a good knowledge of local buses works well too.

What we offer:

Competitive rates of pay

Free initial and ongoing training

Agreed mileage and expenses

Paid travel time

Excellent Co-ordinator support

Applicants must be willing to undergo screening appropriate to the post including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
