Job Description

Journey's Work Coaches provide information, advice and guidance (employability brokerage) for adults with learning disability.  Our Work Coaches work across all our sites and widely in the local community.  Within the field, they develop partnerships with local employers and Job Centres to create work experience opportunities and links for our Clients to achieve real work outcomes.  We aim to achieve part-time opportunities enabling Clients to retain some of their Day Service, social care, package, supporting their needs outside work and as they age.

Journey's Clients are adults with conditions from birth such as Down's Syndrome, cerebral Palsy, Prader-Willi and Smith Magenis Syndromes.  Nationally fewer than 3.4% of adults with learning disability have employment, a statistical drop post COVID from 5.6%.  Journey's past employability programmes have successfully supported 67% of participants in to paid part time work or self-employment.  Through job carving and careful skills/job matching, the majority of adults in our care can achieve a part-time work outcome.

Working with our Clients in small groups and 1:1s, you will be joined by the wider team of specialist Learning Disability Support Workers and Seniors who work on employment and life skills, preparing Clients to move forward to Work Coach support.

Journey Enterprises is a regional charity recognised by the House of Lords in 2021 as one of fifteen organisations in the UK providing best practice.  We hold Mindful Employer, Disability Confident, Better Health at Work and Investors in People quality marks and are members of the National Leaders Council of Great Britain.

For this post we are looking for experienced candidates who will bring relevant career experience in Sectors where we need to build employer relations, ideally with information, advice and guidance qualification.
