The district is blessed with a varied landscape including over 10,000 hectares of woodland, many picturesque villages, award winning parks and three larger towns which provide an enviable choice of lifestyles.

This senior post provides an exciting opportunity for a positive, self-motivated individual to join our new Environment Services management team, recently revised in order to respond to opportunities arising from the Environment Bill and future housing and economic growth within the district.  Based in Worksop, you will play a key role in planning for the future, as well as managing the day to day delivery of the Council’s services for recycling, garden, residual, clinical, trade and bulky waste and street cleansing, ensuring services are delivered to the highest operational standards.

We are looking for an energetic individual with a progressive outlook and proven ability to lead, develop and motivate individuals and teams.  The successful applicant will have experience of managing a large multi-disciplinary workforce delivering front-line public waste collection services, including reviewing/revising refuse rounds, managing sickness and increasing income.

You will have up to date knowledge of health & safety and waste legislation including practical implementation, good problem solving skills, experience of managing high value budgets and performance reporting. We’ll expect you to have excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with other Council departments and external partners in order to implement service improvements.

  • A generous Pension Scheme
  • Flexitime scheme
  • Annual leave purchase scheme
  • Free healthcare cash plan and benefits
