Job description

Have you had a baby on the Neonatal Unit/Transitional care at the RVI? Could you help support other parents going through their own neonatal experience? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for parents who spent over a week in the Neonatal Unit/TC with a range of experiences and backgrounds ranging from full-term babies to micro preemies. To take part, you will need to have been discharged home for at least one year and be able to commit a minimum of 2 hours a week. We are particularly keen to recruit bilingual peer supporters and those who could be available during the daytime (this could be term time only!).

The role involves supporting parents on the RVI Neonatal Unit at dedicated drop-in sessions and/or supporting Peer Support activities taking place post-discharge (such as our Stay and Play Sessions). To become a Tiny Lives Peer Support Volunteer, you will need to complete mandatory training with Tiny Lives and the Hospital Volunteer Service. Once you have completed this and started in your role, you will receive ongoing support and supervision to assist you in carrying out your role. You will be joining a growing team of peer support volunteers who provide a listening ear for parents currently on the neonatal unit and/or in those early weeks and months of being home.
