With 50 full-time staff strong head office based in London - aided by dozens of volunteers - Muslim Aid is one of the major British faith-based relief and development agencies working to alleviate the suffering of the poorest communities around the globe regardless of race, gender, creed or nationality. Muslim Aid is a signatory of the Red Cross & Red Crescent Code of Conduct for NGOs in Disaster Relief, a member of British NGOs for Overseas Development (BOND), supports the UN Millennium Development Goals and the MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY campaign. Set up in 1985 by leading British Muslim organisations, Muslim Aid supports relief and development partnerships in over 50 countries spanning Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe, including the UK and London.
Through support for education and welfare institutions in Britain, coupled with the provision of hardship grants to students, financial assistance for medical care and support for asylum-seekers, Muslim Aid plays a vital role in helping to make Britain socially just, truly global society for the 21st century. With a strong focus to provide support to some of the most deprived communities in the UK and also in London, particular in the East End where Muslim Aid’s head office is situated, we are working towards making poverty history in the UK.
