You will lead the development and delivery of an efficient and effective technical accounting function with a key responsibility for the production of the Council's annual Statement of Accounts. You will oversee a team of financial professionals and support staff with corporate responsibilities.
You must have a relevant professional qualification and a detailed understanding of specialist areas of financial accounting in a Council environment and of International Financial Accounting Standards. You will have evidence of recent Management Training and of achievement at successfully managing, motivating and supervising staff. You will have actively contributed to all aspects of statutory accounts production in a local authority and an active desire to provide effective customer-centred services.
You will have experience of financial and performance management within a comparable organisation, excellent written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, including the exchange of complex and contentious information and be able to maintain records on capital financing. You must have strong problem solving and analytical skills and be competent in using Microsoft Office, ERP applications, word processing, spread sheets and database systems.
