Job description
North Yorkshire County Council Legal and Democratic Services has a strong
commitment to providing high quality and cost effective legal services to
the Council and a number of external service users. We are seeking to
recruit :
Legal Manager People Services
The post is responsible for the management of a team of staff providing
legal support primarily in the areas of child and adult social care,
education, employment and litigation. The post holder will also be expected
to participate in the broader management of legal and democratic services
and be involved in other Council initiatives, deputising as necessary for
the head of service/Monitoring Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to
handle an interesting workload and advise a number of high profile service
users in important people related legal services. It is also an opportunity
to work for an already excellent authority committed to on going improvement
in all aspects of its organisation and service delivery.
The ideal candidate will be a confident team player who is able to work
under pressure and will thrive in a post responsible for a high volume of
complex work. They should be an experienced child care lawyer with well
established experience of managing staff and ideally also of the other legal
work areas which fall within the remit of the post, accustomed to working
with senior council officers and members, and in committee.
