Job description


Your role is to ensure that policy in relation to Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence is coordinated at a Strategic and Operational level within Northumberland and to support the wider generic aspects of work in relation to the wider Strategic Community Safety agenda. You will be the be the coordinating link between the strategic Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence thematic group and operational support services ensuring that the work streams of the group are coordinated and implemented. You will develop innovative measures in tackling domestic abuse and sexual violence, actively research funding opportunities, and prepare bids in relation to domestic abuse and sexual violence You will  research, develop and deliver countywide a variety of training packages and work with partners to establish that service provision supports the needs of victims.


You will be educated to Degree level or other relevant professional or vocational qualification with a thorough understanding of crime and disorder legislative requirements.  You must have experience of working within a community safety environment with a thorough understanding of the dynamics and impacts of domestic abuse and sexual violence .You must also have a thorough understanding of the social and cultural aspects of domestic abuse and sexual violence including diverse communities along with experience of working with a diverse range of community and statutory agencies and groups. You must have the ability to prepare funding bids and detailed reports and have experience of turning policy into effective, practical solutions.


This is an emotionally demanding role and you will be required to travel on a frequent basis throughout Northumberland and also at times outside the county therefore you must be able to meet the transport requirements.  There is also a regular requirement to attend conferences and training, which will involve travel and overnight stays away from home.
