Principal Teachers currently has a requirement for a qualified English Teacher to commence a long term role at a secondary school in the Ripon area. The school has a vacancy within their English Department for a GCSE Teacher of English, who will be responsible for delivering an enriching and stimulating curriculum to motivate learners of all abilities within KS4. The role is available on a full time or part time basis (the school are willing to negotiate their timetable for the right candidate). The successful applicant will need to have experience of teaching English Literature and English Language to KS4 level, taking GCSE classes. You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to plan and assess to a very high standard to drive results forward in English and ensure that all students are given the opportunities and support to flourish.

This vibrant school is based in an area near to Ripon and is well respected within the local community. The Head Teacher is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, who will become part of an experienced and successful English Department. Behaviour standards across the school are very high so you will need to demonstrate effective behaviour management skills and a commitment to embracing the school ethos and policies. The school has excellent facilities and resources and you will be encouraged to work collaboratively with your colleagues to share best practice.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) recognisable in the UK

  • Strong behaviour and classroom management skills

  • Previous experience of teaching in the UK

  • Knowledge of the current Secondary National Curriculum requirements for English Language and Literature (GCSE)

  • Enthusiasm for the role and a creative flare

  • The ability to form excellent working relationships with staff and pupils from a diverse range of backgrounds

  • Experience of planning and assessment to a very high standard

  • A commitment to improving attainment for all students

  • A proven track record for raising attainment and achieving targets
