      <title>Director of Operations - A Way Out</title>

The charity started over 10 years ago as Christian response to some of the devastating issues faced by some in our communities such as addiction and sexual exploitation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We are underpinned by Christian values and we see our sense of call to those on the margins as one that it is inspired by our faith in God. Our vision is that all women and young people have the right to a healthy, safe and whole life, free from addiction, poverty and exploitation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We have multiple funding streams, coming from grant making trusts, foundations, individuals, companies, local government and more recently central government. We also have a growing awareness amongst both the Christian and wider community about our work and the impact that it is making.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Our work covers 3 key areas:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;1) Vulnerable women (particularly those who are sexually exploited, or those at risk of&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;2) At risk young people and their families&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;3) Communities&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Background to the role&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is a key time for A WAY OUT. We have been growing steadily over the last ten years and currently employs a team of 20 people. We believe that in order to grow to the next level and reach our full potential as an inspiring and ambitious charity, dedicated to making a lasting change in our communities; it is important to consolidate what it does in Stockton on Tees and develop the organisational infrastructure needed to move on to the next level.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Board of Trustees and founding Chief Executive are looking for a value driven, compassionate leader with experience of running organisations or large projects and developing quality services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The appointee will play a key role, along with the CEO, Jessie Joe Jacobs and other members of the leadership team, will be instrumental in achieving growth and increased positive and measurable outcomes for vulnerable and at risk women and young people.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The individual who is appointed to this position will share AWO's faith motivation unreservedly; have proven skills and expertise and will be able to demonstrate success in managing change as well as the ability to contribute and operate effectively as a key member of a leadership team. The post of Director of Operations therefore has a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) attached to it. Please refer to the GOR document for further clarification.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Director of Operations must be a leader who is able to help others at A WAY OUT fulfil their individual responsibilities that make the overall organisational vision a reality. Importantly, the successful applicant will have the personal skills needed to release and empower A WAY OUT's team members, recognising and valuing the care, skills, passion and creativity that each member brings.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Two School Improvement Advisers to support schools across Northumberland with a focus on improving Ofsted outcomes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Temporary one year from September 2013 or earlier. This post is suitable as a secondment and would be suitable for an experienced senior leader with a good understanding of the Northumberland context and experience of school improvement work in different contexts.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Local Authority's Education Service are looking to appoint two dynamic and innovative persons with the skills and experience to provide support and challenge to Northumberland schools.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In particular you will work as a School Adviser, supporting school improvement work with a focus on raising attainment, increasing rates of progress and securing positive outcomes in inspections.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A significant part of the role will be to work with schools currently judged satisfactory or ‘requiring improvement' by Ofsted in order that they achieve an improved outcome in their next inspection.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We see the School Adviser role as central to the positive relationship that exists between the local authority and Northumberland schools. You will have experience of raising standards in a number of different contexts and will have the personal skills and attributes to maximise the potential of this post.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You will work as an integrated member of the Education Service and will have regular access to induction, training and professional development to equip you for the role.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As the post involves working in schools across the Local Authority travel expenses are payable.&lt;/p&gt;
