An exciting opportunity to work with adults with mild to moderate mental health needs who require support to gain and retain employment has arisen within our Talking Changes service, which has been set up to improve access to psychological therapies (also known as talking therapies) across County Durham and Darlington.

The service is part of the national improving access to psychological therapies (IAPT) programme and is run by a joint venture between Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and Mental Health Matters. You will work closely with colleagues to source referrals from within the service as well as from external partners, carry out vocational assessments and compile an action plan with each individual. Working as part of a team delivering both one to one and group based support, you will work closely with employers, training providers and other agencies, supporting a caseload of individuals on their chosen route to gain and retain employment.

You will be educated to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent standard, with experience of working with people who have experienced mental health issues and / or other disadvantaged groups having an understanding of the barriers they face in accessing and retaining employment. The posts will operate throughout the County Durham and Darlington, with two based in the North and two in the South.

Student and Learning Support are seeking to recruit a Head of Counselling to lead our Counselling Team. Based within the Student Services Team you will lead counselling in a multidisciplinary setting. Your focus will be on leading and managing a team of counselling professionals while also actively engaging directly in the support of students and staff as a counselling practitioner.

The service offers a range of modalities and approaches. The ability to initiate and manage change and to work closely with our other support teams to ensure the holistic care of clients is essential.

You will work closely with Faculties and Services contributing to the development of prevention support strategies for mental health and promotion of emotional wellbeing across our academic community. You will be an experienced and qualified individual (ie, successfully completed training in their specified field to at least diploma level) who will also have professional registration and insurance.

Volunteer Complementary Therapists play a vital role in ensuring patients are able to benefit from holistic care in a sociable and welcoming environment that can make patients feel comfortable and relaxed.
