We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Registered Nurse who has a passion for providing high quality holistic care and a commitment to the delivery of high professional standards to join our clinical team in a permanent post based at our Stockton site. Our aim at Butterwick is to give patients the best quality of life, meet their medical, spiritual and social needs whilst providing their families with the emotional support they need; our belief is that ‘every moment counts'.

The purpose of this post is to assist with the organisation and delivery of patient care for patients who have life limiting illnesses. This may be in the form of admission for symptom control, respite or end-of-life care. You will undertake nursing assessments, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team and provide symptom control. In order to provide true holistic care you will also be involved in providing appropriate support for families and carers. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the development of clinical practice, education and professional nursing and ensure that high clinical standards and quality of care are maintained in order to provide the best possible care for our patients and meet the requirements of the Care Quality Commission.

This post will predominantly be based within the in-patient unit but the post holder will also be expected to work in Day Care at the Stockton site if necessary, thereby giving the individual an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the wider aspects of palliative and end-of-life care provision. Flexibility is also essential with a requirement to work shifts over a 24 hour period as required. Training, supervision and mentorship will be provided.

The post holder will require excellent communication and inter-personal skills and liaise with other professional colleagues, patients, carers and relatives and promote the hospice philosophy of care in the wider community.

Previous palliative care experience is not essential but a genuine interest and commitment to this area of work is. Applicants will be considered from Registered Nurses holding current Registration with the NMC and may be working in a variety of clinical areas.
