The Academy

Nunthorpe is a very popular co-educational 11 - 19 comprehensive academy with approximately 1550 students on roll.

In the Summer of 2012 we gained record GCSE results for the academy (77% 5x A*- C including English and Mathematics; and 95% 5 x A* - C). We also gained 100% A* - E at A2 and 95% A* - E at AS. These results place us among the top performing secondary state schools in Teesside. We are set to achieve record results again this year.

The Role

The role would be contracted 37 hours per week term time.

This will be on a Term Time only basis plus 10 additional days, per academic year.

Duties include: to assist Faculty teaching staff in their day to day classroom duties; to supervise students when faculty teaching staff are absent; to assist on academy/faculty trips/visits.

In addition, the successful candidate would be required to assist the Faculty's Curriculum Director in the general administration of the Faculty including; organising faculty teaching resources, preparing and mounting learning displays, inputting faculty performance data etc.

The Faculties
Mathematics is an established faculty with 10 teaching staff, 1 Faculty Support Assistant (current vacancy).

Performing Arts comprises of the Music and Drama faculties is an experienced and established faculty comprising 5 full time teachers (3 in Music and 2 in Drama), a Faculty Support Assistant and 5 peripatetic Music tutors.

Art is a faculty of 3 full time teachers and a Faculty Support Assistant (current Vacancy).

The Candidates

The Academy

Nunthorpe is a very popular Foundation co-educational 11 - 19 comprehensive academy with approximately 1550 students on roll.

In the Summer of 2012 we gained record GCSE results for the academy (77% 5 A*- C including English and Mathematics; and 95% 5 x A* - C). We also gained 100% A* - E at A2 level. We are a high performing, academically rigorous Academy.

The Role

The role would be contracted 37 hours per week term time 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday (8.30am - 4.00pm Friday) with a 30 minute break each day.

This will be on a Term Time only basis plus 5 additional days, per academic year.

Duties are ultimately very flexible but will include: to give one to one support or group support to students with specific learning needs within our inclusion department; to liaise closely with parents and carers; to take responsibility for the delivery of parts of the inclusion curriculum (under the leadership of our inclusion 2 manager).

The Candidate

We require an energetic, inspirational and talented person with a passion for the education of students across the whole 11 - 19 age and ability range. The successful candidate would ideally have experience of working with children with emotional / behavioural/ social needs.

To be calm, efficient, and highly organised, with the flexibility to work with other faculties on occasion across our academy is essential.

GCSE (or equivalent) grade B in Mathematics, Science and English, are a minimum qualification requirement for this post.
