&lt;p&gt;NorthumberlandCounty Council is a progressive authority supported by a Lexcel accredited Legal ServicesUnit with high standards in the provision of timely, accurate and quality legal advice.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As a member of the children and adult services team, you will provide administrative support for lawyers and legal executives, and help with the day-to-day tasks involved in running an in-house legal team.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Your tasks will be varied and depending on the daily needs of the service your duties could include:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;typing letters and producing legal documents such as court forms and statements&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;working from dictated notes&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;answering telephone calls, letters, faxes and e-mails&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;organising diaries and making appointments&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;preparing court bundles&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;delivering and collecting documents&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;filing and other general clerical work.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We are looking for candidates with the following skills and knowledge&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;excellent secretarial skills (audio transcription skills are desirable)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;some knowledge of the law and legal procedures&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;computer literacy&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;a high level of accuracy and attention to detail&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;discretion, for dealing with confidential information&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;a good standard of spelling and grammar&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;the ability to work to deadlines&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;the ability to work well as part of a team and also on your own&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;a polite, helpful manner.&lt;/li&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Your role is to investigate, process and monitor compliance with the terms of planning conditions and agreements. You will, investigate, process and monitor enforcement actions as set out in the relevant planning legislation and monitor other breaches of planning control relating to listed buildings, trees and advertisements. You will investigate complaints and allegations of unauthorised development received by the Development Management teams and where appropriate, carry out interviews and negotiate with developers, their agents and legal advisors to seek to resolve matters or to identify further action to be taken. You will prepare and present evidence and statements as directed for the Council in Enforcement Appeals at hearings and inquiries and assist with criminal proceedings resulting from breaches in planning control.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You will have a good standard of general education demonstrating numeracy and literacy and effective IT skills, knowledge of the main operational, procedural and practical issues relating to the DM service along with experience in a monitoring and enforcement capacity ideally in planning or a related field. You must have a good knowledge of current inter/national laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and developments relating to development management. This post involves the need to visit properties and development sites throughout the area on a regular basis therefore you must be able to meet the transport requirements.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

&lt;p&gt;Two School Improvement Advisers to support schools across Northumberland with a focus on improving Ofsted outcomes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Temporary one year from September 2013 or earlier. This post is suitable as a secondment and would be suitable for an experienced senior leader with a good understanding of the Northumberland context and experience of school improvement work in different contexts.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Local Authority's Education Service are looking to appoint two dynamic and innovative persons with the skills and experience to provide support and challenge to Northumberland schools.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In particular you will work as a School Adviser, supporting school improvement work with a focus on raising attainment, increasing rates of progress and securing positive outcomes in inspections.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A significant part of the role will be to work with schools currently judged satisfactory or ‘requiring improvement' by Ofsted in order that they achieve an improved outcome in their next inspection.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;We see the School Adviser role as central to the positive relationship that exists between the local authority and Northumberland schools. You will have experience of raising standards in a number of different contexts and will have the personal skills and attributes to maximise the potential of this post.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;You will work as an integrated member of the Education Service and will have regular access to induction, training and professional development to equip you for the role.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As the post involves working in schools across the Local Authority travel expenses are payable.&lt;/p&gt;
